About The Gig

The Gig is edited by Nate Dorward out of Toronto. It began life as a little magazine in late 1998, focussing on modernist/experimental poetries in English from the US, Canada, UK and Ireland. Each issue is 60 or 64pp, with about 40pp of poetry, a short essay, and a reviews section. The magazine has since branched out into volumes of criticism (published as double issues of the journal) and books of poetry. (More than you need to know about the whole thing is available here . . . You can also check out my blog here.)

Cheques in foreign currencies are welcome. Cheques in Canadian funds from foreign banks are frequently not cashable on this end without crippling bank fees – you’d do better to send a cheque in your own currency for the equivalent. If you are uncertain about how best to send funds, ask first. If you wish to order a lot of books I can usually give you a better deal (it’s usually more efficient in terms of postage to mail multiple books as one packet).

Some titles are available from SPD but it’s still best to order from me: (1) I make little from sales through SPD by the time wholesaler’s discounts and shipping costs are taken into account; (2) I can give you a better deal, especially if you order multiple books.
